Openmokast: An open mobile broadcasting software stack for handheld devices

This presentation is about the Openmokast project and the Openmoko platform. The Openmokast project was launched at the CRC in ottawa with the goal of creating the required software components to support wireless mobile multimedia broadcasting on open mobile devices. The first Openmokast prototype is based on the Openmoko mobile telephony platform.
The presentation will expose the problem of broadcasting to handheld devices. Then the details about Openmoko and the reason why it was selected as a main development platform will be presented. Finally, the process of designing and implementing a mobile broadcasting enabled device based on the Openmoko FreeRunner will be explained.
