Call for conference hosting proposals - open source summercamp 2010

Printer-friendly version

Each year, FOSSLC has been running a conference to bring together community, academia, industry, and government for a couple of days to learn about great open source technology and concepts. We would like to call for proposals to host an event in the summer 2010. Read on for details.

For this year's conference, we would like to host it for 2 days on a Friday and Saturday. We expect somewhere between 50 and 70 talks. As we have done in the past, we will record the talks to make them available online. Based on previous years traffic, these videos will be viewed many thousands of times.

Requirements:

  • 5 rooms that seat at least 40 people in each room for Friday & Saturday, ideally located near each other in the same building
  • A larger room that seats at least 200 for the opening and closing plenaries on Friday morning and Saturday afternoon
  • Each room requires an overhead projector for speakers to present
  • A space to set up the registration table
  • A space to set up the lunch buffet tables
  • A smaller lockable/secure space to store gear
  • free wifi for conference attendees OR Ethernet in each room to enable FOSSLC wifi routers during the conference
  • good public transit
  • free parking for speakers & volunteers (free parking for all is considered a differentiator)

The hosting organization will receive recognition on the event page, throughout the conference, and be invited to speak at the opening and closing plenary sessions. Students or employees from the hosting organization will receive a deep discount or free if the budget can support it.

Proposals should use the template attached to this post and be sent to the FOSSLC Events team by January 29, 2010.

Thank you.
